Job Description

TTI is seeking a dynamic and experienced PLC Controls Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide variety of control system projects in high volume electrical component manufacturing. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex automation systems and solutions that improve operational efficiency and productivity. This role requires a deep understanding of Mitsubishi and Siemens PLCs and utilizes advanced PLC and HMI programming.

Role Overview:

As a PLC Controls Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development, programming, and maintenance of PLC and Industrial PC systems. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of our automated processes, contributing to the efficiency and reliability of our production systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Design and Development: Create and implement PLC programs for new and existing automation systems, ensuring they meet project specifications and industry standards.

• System Troubleshooting: Understand and troubleshoot existing equipment using electrical drawings, performing updates as necessary.

• Data Analysis: Analyze equipment data to identify root causes of problems, performing improvement activities and standardizing control systems.

• Testing and Validation: Perform comprehensive testing and validation of PLC programs to guarantee optimal performance and reliability.

• Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing support for PLC systems, including diagnosing and resolving technical issues ly to minimize downtime.

• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of PLC programs, system configurations, and operational procedures. Prepare reports on system performance and improvements.

• Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to integrate PLC systems with other automation components.

• Technical Support: Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production personnel on control systems.

• Efficiency Improvements: Perform activities to improve equipment efficiency, quality, and reduce downtime.

• Communication Protocols: Troubleshoot control systems using existing equipment communication protocols.

• Servo Drives: Troubleshoot Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Innovance servo drives.

• Vision Systems: Understand and troubleshoot vision systems, implementing necessary improvements.

• Industrial Systems: Understand and troubleshoot industrial welding, printing, and scanning systems, performing necessary improvements.

• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all PLC systems adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

Job Requirement

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Electrical, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline.

• Experience: 3-5 years of progressive engineering experience, including high-speed, high-volume manufacturing and process controls.

• Technical Proficiency:

o Proficient in programming Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Innovance, and Beckhoff PLCs using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Instruction List languages.

o Experienced in programming Siemens, Mitsubishi, Proface, and Weintek HMIs.

o Knowledgeable in communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet IP, CC-Link, EtherCAT, Profibus, and Profinet.

o Aptitude to learn and become proficient in new PLC systems.

• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a commitment to safety and quality.

• Motion Systems: Experienced with motion systems, including servo drives and robot-controlled systems.

• Robotics: Familiar with Yamaha and Comau industrial controls and robots.

• Vision Systems: Familiar with industrial vision suppliers such as Omron, Keyence, and Cognex.

• Industrial Printers and Scanners: Experienced with interfacing industrial printers and scanners with PLCs.

• Welding Systems: Experienced with laser and resistance welding systems.

• Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional and team-based environment.

• Communication: Effective communication skills and the ability to be a team player are essential.
